The Wonderful World of WhataHoot!

After nearly six months of work (with a brief hiatus during lockdown), we are delighted to announce the WhataHoot distillery is now OPEN!

WhataHoot began life in our originally distillery which we built in a barn in Flitcham, on the Sandringham Estate. Although we absolutely loved our country setting and the wildlife that used to visit on a regular basis (including our very own barn owl!), we quickly realised that the barn was simply not big enough to accompany the unprecedented growth and demand we have seen since launching in June 2018.

So in November last year, we set about on plans to convert a Hanseatic-era warehouse in the heart of historic King’s Lynn into a bespoke new distillery, complete with two additional stills, giving us a vastly increased capacity for production.

In addition, the new distillery has given us the opportunity to open our own shop, which we call the Pantry. Open 7 days a week, The Pantry, is your one-stop-shop for all your WhataHoot goodies, including our gins, HootFruit, Orange & Gin Curd, Boozy Ganache Chocolates and our Boozy Chocolate Ganache. In addition, we have a huge range of tonics, local beer and wine and other branded goods such as our gorgeous aprons and handy jute bags. And that’s just on the ground floor…

Upstairs, we have created the magnificent Gin School & Spirit Lounge which will be host to exclusive experiences and masterclasses. The school features two stunning wooden benches, with 12 beautiful mini copper stills, ideal for learning how to make gin and blending your own flavour. While the Spirit Lounge is the perfect place to sink into a comfy sofa and soak up the atmosphere (and heavenly smells)! As if that wasn’t enough, we have also created a separate room, The Snug, which is the ideal location for meetings.

Much like the barn, this fabulous building is bursting with character, featuring exposed brickwork and ancient beams and we are absolutely thrilled to have opened our doors and to now welcome visitors from Norfolk and beyond into the wonderful world of WhataHoot!
